Above ₹50 lakh: a surcharge of 10% to 25% applies on top of the tax shown, with its own marginal relief. This calculator does not compute surcharge, so treat the figures above as the pre-surcharge tax and check with a chartered accountant.
What this calculator does and does not do. It applies the FY 2026-27 (AY 2027-28) slabs for both regimes, the standard deduction (₹75,000 new, ₹50,000 old, salaried only), the Section 87A rebate under both regimes, marginal relief just above the ₹12 lakh new-regime threshold, and the 4% health and education cess. It does
not compute surcharge above ₹50 lakh, capital gains taxed at special rates, relief under Section 89, or business-income specifics such as presumptive taxation. It is an estimate to help you choose a regime — not a filing document, and not tax advice. Verify on the
Income Tax Department portal and consult a chartered accountant before you file.
